Pressure at the top as Felix is pipped at the post

23-29th August saw the final leg of Spain’s national championships held in Ager, Spain.  The comp formed part of a two-week series  and a warm-up for the second competition, the Paragliding World Cup, to be held back-to-back at the same venue.

After a slow start with the first and second days postponed due to strong winds, a colder air mass was on the move producing strong altitude conditions and getting the competition off to a start on day 3 with a set task of 100km.

The remainder of the week delivered to the 123-strong field of pilots, four cracking tasks and what can only be described as “classic” conditions. No let up for the top spot, with only 2 points in it and Felix Rodriguez pushing Francisco all the way.

Congratulations to Spain’s new champion.
