Three-dimensionnal shaping to improve stability from BGD
BGD is using a new three-dimensionnal technology to shape the leading edge of their wings, improving the stability, strength and overall performance. The new CCB (Cord Cut Billow) technologies has been developped by Bruce Goldsmith to reduce creasing which often occurs on the nose and upper surface of the leading edge of the wing.
Creating a curved design from a flat surface of material means additionnal folding and stitching. However, Bruce Goldsmith has found an innovative solution by giving the panels a specific shape, which when stitched, ensures volume and tension.
This new technology means that there are fewer pleats and seams made allowing for a smoother and more harmonious surface area to the leading edge. As this part of the glider has the highest contact area with the air, the Chord Cut Billow technology will, so BGD say, improve the paraglider’s stability, durability and overall performance.
