Pitch Pendulum with Horacio Llorens and Tim Alongi

Horacio Llorens and Tim Alongi, long-time acro pilots shows us how to master the technique of the pendulum trick, where the pilots pass above and below each other in a Ferris-wheel motion.

To master the manoeuvre, rhythm and trust play a big part. By braking your glider to let it climb, when at the top of the movement, the pilot releases the brakes to allow the glider to pitch forwards and dive using the wing’s natural speed or the speedbar, enabling the partner pilot to pass above you.

To take the trick one step further, the couple add in a twist to the pendulum stage, which is both difficult and dangerous, because neither pilot has visibility on the other for more than the “release and dive” moment.
