Five fly the eclipse in Wales

Whilst some of us on 20th March, only managed a few head-plants from the dunes in Anglessy, five UK pilots, Martin Cray, Joe Dart, Steve Hodgeson, Mark Pearson and Paul Williams, were actually airborn during the eclipse…in the better part of Wales. Whilst the North of the country was covered in cloud, the southeners were momentarily blessed with early morning sunshine before being plunged into 90% darkness.

The pilots said conditions were good to start with, until nearing the total eclipse, the air suddenly became rough with strong sink, forcing them to land further downwind.
