Ozone Chabre Open celebrates 10 years of success!
One of the longest standing entry level competitions, this year taking place between the 26th June and 3rd July. Meet Directed by the inimitable Jocky Sanderson, the comp is run by an experienced team of enthusiasts who make the competition a friendly environment in which to learn and improve on their XC and competition skills. Laragne-based club, Chabre Vol Libre are supported by the regional authorities and local businesses and the event is sponsored by Ozone, who offer €20 off all participants flying an Ozone wing.
Having always been a serial class event, the Chabre Open does not appear on the FAI calendar, and full-on comp pilots flying hot wings are not allowed to participate, and in addition this year, the EN-D class wings have been limited, which generally lends to a in addition this year, the END class will also be limited. Jocky’s skilll and experience in cross country flying, SIV, safety and training helps pilots to improve their XC and competition skills in an unintimidating and animated environment.
Daily briefings and debriefings give pilots the opportunity to learn from one another and are also a source of entertainement. The more experienced comp pilots who come along are encouraged to share their knowledge by participating in the various workshops and lectures during the week.
Great parties, great food and some cracking prizes to be won in each of the wing categories plus a mixed-ability Team prize. Additionnal prizes also for Girls, Rookies and an inevitable Boobie Prize! And the best prize of the lot, a brand new Ozone paraglider for the lucky pilots who’s name is drawn out of a hat. Skygods, pizzas and partying for a whole week!
