COMPETITION
Spain’s Felix Rodriguez triumps at the PWC Brazil

Our congratulations go to the winners in the Paragliding World Cup event from Castelo in Brazil.
An exciting week and gripping finale as Spanish pilot Felix Rodriguez squeezes his way to the podium to win the overall event with only 5 points between him and France’s Lucas Bernardin. Brazil’s Frank Brown was third. Felix looked strong from the start of the competition sending a clear message to his fellow competitors on Day 2 after winning the second task.
For the women’s event, Japan’s Keiko Hiraki flew to victory in front of Italy’s Nicole Fedele in second place and Polish pilot Klaudia Bulgakow in third.
Castelo in Brazil is reputable for its close-to-perfect flying conditions and the 129 pilots competing in this first leg of the 2016 World Cup circuit could not have been more satisfied with the maximum seven out of seven tasks. Some of the competitors were even overheard saying that they had flown some of the most beautiful World Cup tasks ever!
This will give a boost to the PWC circuit, which in recent seasons has seen a decline in attendance of some of the sport’s top competitors. The next World Cup event will be held in Italy in June and hosted in the alpine town of Gemona; another well chosen venue for European flying, offering a challenging combination of mountains and flatlands.
