La saison européenne démarre avec le classique Trofeo Montegrappa 2015 depuis Bassano en Italie
Monte Grappa, c’est un festival Air et Montagne avec une exposition qui se déroule du 2 au 6 avril à Borso del Grappa mais aussi une compétition pour les deltaplanes et parapentes
Les compétitions sont inscrites en haut de la calendrier des FAI Cat-2 et est une des plus prestigieuses grâce à sa forte participation de pilotes internationaux renommés (Jurij Vidic, Ulrich Prinz, Honorin Hamard, Clément Latour, Jean Marc Caron, Jacques Fournier, Maxime Pinot….)

Our european competition season kicks off with the return of the classic Monte Grappe Trophy 2015, from Bassano in Italy
Italy’s largest Flight and Mountain Festival, the Monte Grappa Trophy Expo is making a come back this year. The exhibition will take place between the 2nd-6th April in Borso del Grappa with the Paragliding and Hang-gliding Tropheo Montegrappa competition, one of the highest ranking on the FAI Cat-2 calendar (Jurij Vidic, Ulrich Prinz, Honorin Hamard, Clément Latour, Jean Marc Caron, Jacques Fournier, Maxime Pinot….).

2th April : Task 1 – Race to goal 56 km
Conditions difficiles pour la première journée
Pour la première fois depuis les conditions humides de 2013, le Trophée Montegrappa, compétition de parapente, a débuté aujourd’hui avec une première manche avec des thermiques généreux et des conditions “musclées” (varios à 6m/s). Les premiers pilotes ont franchi la ligne juste en dessous des trois heures.

Slow conditions for the first day
For the first time since the damp one-task wonder in 2013, Europe’s classic Monte Grappa Trophy paragliding competition got underway today with a first task started with generous and great thermal conditions (varios to 6 m/s).
Competitors were given 8 hours to finish the 6-turnpoint task given the slow conditions, and the first pilots were seen crossing the line in just under three hours.
RESULTATS
– Premier au Goal, Maxime Pinot en 2h45mn, suivi par Ulrich Prinz (tous deux sous un Ozone Enzo2) et Jean-Marc Caron (Niviuk Icepeak 8).
– Première au classement féminin, l’italienne Silvia Ferraris, en 3h11mn.

RESULTS
– First in goal, Maxime Pinot in 2hrs45mins, followed by Ulrich Prinz, (both flying Ozone Enzo2), and Jean-Marc Caron (Niviuk Icepeak8)
– First lady was Italy’s very own, Silvia Ferraris, in 3hrs11mins.
3th April : Task 2 – Race to goal 120 km
Une belle manche avec de bonnes conditions (plafond à 2500 m).
Une manche magnifique de 120 km qui était parfaitement adaptée aux conditions du jour.
RESULTATS
– Premier au Goal, Jot Napret (Slovénie) en 3h48mn, suivi par Honorin Hamard (France) et Martin Petz (Allemagne)
– Première au classement féminin, Seiko Fukuoka (France), en 4h04mn.

4th April : No task
Results
Ulrich Prinz (une des équipes de pilotes d”Allemagne), actuellement classé 4ème dans le monde, a remporté le Trofeo Monte Grappa. Ulrich a commenté sur sa page facebook que l’un des pilotes dans les 12 premières positions auraient pu remporter la première place du podium à seulement quelques points d’avance. Jurij Vidic, SLO (2e) et Charles Cazaux, FRA (3e) étaient très proches pendant les trois jours de la compétition.
Après avoir remporté le trophée à deux reprises en 2008 et 2009, l’enthousiasme et le plaisir évident de Ulrich pour cette grande compétition, les manches intéressantes (et les plats délicieux) verront sans doute son retour pour défendre son titre l’année prochaine.
Nous avons pu poser quelques questions Ulrich après la compétition.
Ulrich Prinz, one of Germany’s Team pilots, currently ranked 4th in the World, has won the Monte Grappa Trophy at the start of Europe’s competition season. Ulrich commented on his facebook page that any of the pilots in the top 12 positions could have walked away with the first prize podium, and only a few points ahead, Jurij vidic, SLO (2nd) and Charles Cazaux, FRA (3rd) were close on his heals during the three great task days of the competition.
Having won the trophy on two previous occasions in 2008 and 2009, Ulrich’s clear enthusiasm and enjoyment of this great competition, the interesting tasks and delicious food, will no doubt see him returning to defend his title next year.
We were able to ask Ulrich a few questions after the competition.
