20/11/2014 :
The 2015 Kendal Mountain Festival starts today. Taking place in the UK in the heart of the Lake District, it has become one of the world’s leading festivals of its kind.
A festival internationally renowned known for attracting film premières from around the globe, film makers, TV producers, adventurers, climbers and world-class lecturers gather to take part in four packed days of the very best films, speakers, books and exhibitions covering all aspects of mountain and adventure sports and culture.
Now running in its 15th consecutive year, Kendal Mountain Festival is also the main UK social event for outdoor enthusiasts. Last year Clément Latour from France was one of last year’s guests, promoting the film made during his gruelling but unforgettable X-Alps experience.
With over 50 films screened from 200 entries, who will win this year the highly respected ‘Adventure Film Academy’ Award for aspiring film-makers? Other highlights include art exhibitions and literature events, including the coveted Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature.
Together with the photography events, numerous competitions, specialist sports nights (Bike, Snowsports, Free-Flight, Underground and Endurance Sports) and the KMF for Schools programme, KMF is the ‘must do’ mountain festival.
It’s vision is to inspire more people to explore, enjoy and represent mountains, wilderness and their cultures.
